Shifting Tides

2007.1.27 Caravaggio Server

Before I begin let me just say that this is my Angie's baptism of fire. Welcome to the battlegrounds.

Warp slot assignments were more than the usual thus forcing us to delete some of our old save points or not opting to make a save point at all. This has proven to be a problem for my faction.

During the first 15 minutes, it appeared that most of the factions were waiting for each other to declare war on each other. The declaration of war of Reconquista against BarurotBoyz broke the silence as later, Eden has declared war on Adeptas Fraternas.

While waiting for the 5 minute declaration leeway, my faction camped at Rion Prairie, Eden colony.

Eden, on the oher hand camped at our colony, Rio Albi. During this time, while waiting for the declaration to begin, Reconquista has already occupied one of BarurotBoyz' colony. As proven by the previous colony wars, Reconquista has always been one of the fastest factions to break the colonies. This was further proven as Reconquista further advanced against BB and then later against Eclipse.

When war was declared between Eden and AF, it was now a matter of who had more people, valks and blades. AF broke Eden colony first, and some 8000HPs later, Eden broke AFs.

From this point on, things became messy.

AF was more on the offensive side while Eden was on the defensive. As AF tried to acquire more colonies for itself, Eden has always been successful in repelling AF.

Among these skirmishes included:

The Battle of Rio Albi.

As AF tried fiercely to occupy Rio Albi, the elite members of Eden have always managed to keep us at bay.

The Battle of Topolo Durga.

Although the first few attempts were unsuccessful, later AF was able to get hold of this colony.

However, in exchange, Eclipse was able to get hold of the Pradera Ceniza and the Lago Celeste. I know that there are a lot of Eden members, but I believe that AF had enough members during this war. But the lack of warp slots have made offensive strikes often unsuccessful. Frequent attempts were made to acquire Bonavista or reclain Rio Albi, but both proved futile.

This was during the last 30 minutes of the war. Eclipse have attempted to take a few of Reconquista's colonies. At the same time, Supperclub, BarurotBoyz and Azyr have had their own skirmishes against the Reconquista faction.

During the last few minutes, even in the danger of losing Rion, AF opted to go to the offensive to keep Eden busy. This resulted to the Battle of Pradera Ceniza as AF tried to retake the said colony.

I think this was the first time, since I came to AF, that we had exclusively warred against Eden. During the previous CWs, AF have always had war with Reconquista with Eden at the side. This is why I have just noticed and realized that a lot of the elite members of Eden came from my previous faction: ReBorn Faction, one of the top guilds (if not the best) in Caravaggio history. This fact has just reinstated my belief that our faction, along with the rest of Caravaggio are doing battle with the top 2 guilds of the server, Reconquista and Eden.

This alliance have become stronger thus shifting the tides of war in their favor.

Adeptas Fraternas - 3
Azyr - 1
BarurotBoyz - 1
Eclipse - 1
Eden - 8
Reconquista - 7

Bring It On 2

The Adeptas Fraternas Faction held an in-game event, strictly for AF members only. The event has three parts:

1. Bring Me!

Our elite squad donated a few of their elites or other really good equips. In order to win, we had to bring the items that Maki aka .™ would ask for.

First was an item that can only be found with Riskbreaker. Apparently, Riskbreaker was hiding in Gehenna, making those with Gehenna Warp Points the winner. Of course the fastest one would win. Other items included: a leather armor with movement speed between 5-10%, 5 Bucha del Noches, 10 Tofus, spiritual resistance+magic resistance+stabilizer (the stablizers, none of us have, so they switched it to 5 snowmen), etc.

2. Item Creation!

By 12pm, Maki announced the first item: 10 Platinum Coupons. What would these be for? This would be the first of the many items which would be needed to win a lvl100 weapon! The fastest one to complete all required items would win. I wasn't able to know the other items, but I lacked Platinum coupons, so i Opted not to join this part anymore.

3. PvP!

A small tournament from AF members (except those who are members of the Elite Squad) started at around 1pm. It was a 1 on 1 battle. Apparently, I didn't make it further than first round since the one I had battle with was one of the elitest members of AF, MysticalPwnage.

Meaning~ I didn't win anything at all. Dame.

Till the next Bring It On event then.

Here are some of my screenies from the Bring It On Event:

This is me being a few seconds late during the Bring Me Event. PHAIL!

This is me running for my life. That's an Elite Plate Mail on the line!

This is me waiting to die in PvP.

Since we are on the topic of Games. Let me present to you the "Wack the Capylabra!" Mini-Game.

Woohooo, double topics-single post.

I've been very curious on what the different mini games are in Bahia Island. I did the Rock-Paper-Scissors Game. I think I lost a couple of 92s, 84s and 80s in that game. This is not a game that I'd recommend you playing for a past time. The Battle Arena, I haven't tried yet.

What I'd recommend is the Capylabra and the Watermelon Game. The Watermelon game is quite frustrating as the watermelons just goes out all over. Very difficult to get them all in a single wipe. Which is why, I'm highly recommending the Capylabra Beach Game:

1. Talk to the kid NPC at the beach.
2. Pay 20,000 vis to play a single game. Can only play every 5 minutes.
3. Let the games begin. Your goal: kill all the Capylabras. And believe me, this is really fun and easy.

Wait for them to spawn. They won't spawn at the same time.

And blast em with your AOEs

What do you win?

The Capylabras drop Coconuts, Blank Coupons, 4th Class Coupons, 3rd Class, 2nd and 1st. The Watermelon game has the same, but instead of coconuts, they drop watermelon shells.

I don't know what the coconuts are for but the coupons, you can exchange with the Coupon Exchange Machine at the Bahia Island Reception Area. You need to exchange at least 10 4th Class coupons, 20 3rd class coupons, as for the others, I can't really recall.

What do you get?

Usually, pieces of gems (i.e. Ruby, Sapphires, etc.). Sometimes enchantment chips and other random items. I believe it is worth-it for a mere 20k vis.

Will update this post since most of these info comes from what I can recall.

Chapter 11: The Daughter of her Father

[Cite de Reboldeaux]

Musketeer: Good Work Cyrus! Let’s hunt tomorrow again.

Cyrus: Okay! See you.

Cyrus: Now, while I’m waiting for that carriage ride, I can look for hero seals to sell.

Cyrus: Sir. How’s my reservation doing? It’s been several days since my reservation. Are there no carriages available?

Leonardo Expresso: Oh, forgive me sir. Recently, there has been a huge influx from Vespanola owned kingdoms. It has forced us to relocate our carriages here in Reboldeaux to Coimbra.

Cyrus: What do you mean? The war is over, why is Vespanola still getting lands? Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Vespanola should be returning the lands by now.

Leonardo Expresso: Just between you and me, okay? But apparently, instead of returning the lands, Vespanola gets complete ownership and these lands become official colonies of Vespanola. The smaller kingdoms are in too much debt that the only way to relive themselves of this is by selling away their land. Pretty soon, the whole of Orpesia and Granado Espada will be Vespanola’s.

Cyrus: I…I see.

Leonardo Expresso: Oooh, pretend I didn’t tell you that, young man. My business largely depends on Vespanola, and for that I am thankful.

[After a few more conversations, Cyrus kept silent, pretending not to be affected. In his mind, all he thought of was the state of the Kingdom of Luxem and the Silva Family. Then he over heard loud conversations from the Civil Office building.]

Emilia: Sir, I know this is a big request but you really need to send a search party to the frontier to the north. My father may still be there.

Domingo: Forgive me madam, but that is not possible. It is suicide to go there. We cannot allow anyone to go there for that matter. A search party is impossible even if you ask a petition to the Princess Gabriela.

Emilia: But…my father…

Domingo: I don’t want to say this, but even if your father is there…the chances that he is still…

Cyrus: Sir please, stop now.

[Cyrus notices Emilia’s teary eyes. Domingo sees this also and stops. He takes a deep breath.]

Domingo: I am sorry madam. Please, maybe I can call someone to assist you back to your lodging?

Emilia: No. *wipes her tears off*. No, thank you. I can manage on my own. I will take my leave now. I apologize for taking your time.

Cyrus: Are you alright madam?

Emilia: Thank you sir. I am okay. It’s just that I become sensitive when I talk about my father.

Cyrus: Yes, I understand. I heard that you needed to go to the north?

Emilia: To the other side of the wall.

Cyrus: The wall?

[Emilia pauses for a while as if she didn’t hear Cyrus. Then suddenly, her eyes glowed.]

Emilia: To Auch.

Cyrus: Other side of the wall of Auch? *looking confused*

Emilia: No, I mean, the City of Auch is the territory of the Republicans. If the Royalist cannot help me, I can probably ask the Republicans.

Cyrus: I see. You know maam, I’m going to Auch soon. But my carriage seems to be coming late. If you want, maybe we can go there together. I don’t have anyone to go with.

Emilia: There’s another way. I know a shortcut by foot. I’m sure it’s faster. You see, when you use Leonardo Express, the carriage will only take to Coimbra then stop there. You will have to wait for another few days to get a carriage going to Auch.

Cyrus: What? I was never told that.

Emilia: And I think right now, it’s almost impossible to get a carriage from Coimbra.

Cyrus: I see. So when are we leaving?

Emilia: Oh no, please. I did not mean you should go with me.

Cyrus: It’s okay. I really want to get to Auch as soon as possible also. My name brother and sister are waiting for me.

Emilia. I see. Then, we leave tomorrow?

Cyrus: Okay.

Cyrus: My name is Cyrus, by the way.
Emilia: My name is Emilia, by the way. *in chorus*

*they gave off a short laugh and smiled*

The War of the New World

Before everything else, I came in late okay. I came during the last hour of Colony Wars.

Recall from last week's CW the truce between Adeptas Fraternas and Eclipse, and the truce between Reconquista and Eden. These two sides have proven to be the two biggest forces that have dominated over the past month over Caravaggio server.

This week, the other factions have chosen their side. I only speak form what I know, and there may be subjectivity with it, but majority of the smaller factions, if not holding a truce with the AF-Eclipse group, have declared war against either Reconquista and Eden. There are also factions who have allied with Reconquista and Eden. I cannot mention the names of the factions as I don't want to make any assumptions.

However, with these "alliances" formed (whether temporary or not), have made the war more balanced, as compared to the one-sided wars with Reconquista having the upper hand.

Those are just my thoughts on the drama of Caravaggio.

So when I arrived, my factions was in the middle of attacking Tetra hill. I believe it was Reconquista who was holding the colony at that time. I had a glimpse of the map during this time and noticed that AF have lost some of its original colonies, but have acquired new colonies getting the count back to 4. Eclipse was always getting new colonies during this time, and so was Eden. The smaller factions were also getting colonies bit by bit. Reconquista had two colonies during that time, which put me in surprise. I did not know what happened but that is how it happened. Shortly however, Reconquista managed to get new colonies for itself.

Given that during this time, Reconquista has 2 colonies. The attack of Tetra Hill was extraordinarily difficult. Well, at least for me. Penetrating through this chokepoint (the area which bridges the faction manager and its immediate area from Tetra Hill proper), proved to be a great challenge as even if few Reconquista families defend this area, they can easily stop us or delay our attempts in taking their colony.

The Tetra Hill Colony subsequently fell to another faction. Supperclub, I believe.

After a few more warping to the other Reconquista colonies, our faction leader Welling called a full force attack of Rio Albi, another one of their colonies.

Less difficult, but nevertheless difficult, Adeptas Fraternas was able to get hold of Rio Albi at the last 5 mins.

Ferrucio Junction, one of AF's colonies was left unattended as we had our full force in Rio Albi. Because of this, Reconquista was able to get the said colony during the last second, almost like the way we got their colony during last week's colony wars.

Adeptas Fraternas - 4
Barurotboyz - 2
Eclipse - 2
Eden - 8
Reconquista - 4
Supperclub - 1

Will the smaller factions who have grown powerful change the tides of war?

Chapter 10: The Evil of the New World

[El Ruina Memoria]

*Lucius wakes up and wonders where he is. He is trying to re-orient himself with where he is and what time it probably is and why he is there. He then remembers that Lucrezia has created a warp portal which they entered thus leading them to this area. He realized that the environment that he is in now is different from anywhere familiar near Auch.

Lucius: Where is this? *he looks around looking for Lucrezia and Lorch*

*Although the environment is very different, he realizes that the land that he is in is consistent with the immediate Auch Environment

*However, at the distant end of the gloomy meadows lies a great land of stone. As if the only transition was the earthly bridge which he stood on. With great care, he walks towards the sound of footsteps where he sees 2 mysterious figures hidden in the darkness of the night, having a conversation. He hid beside a rock nearby and eavesdropped.

Male: Took you long enough

Female: You expect too much, the frontier is not very near here. Even with space magic, it takes time.

Male: You seem to be losing your touch.

Female: You may want to keep quiet if you do not wish to lose your neck.

Male: *short chuckle*

Female: Why this of all the places? You would not want to get close to Cheryl’s

Male: Her energy reminds of my youth. You, of all people should know the rawness of her potential.

Female: Thus describing her… raw. Not good enough. So why have you asked for me?

Male: Our past debts… I believe is on its course.

Female: You sound like Ulrik. And believe me, that is not a complement.

Male: Do you remember the region east of Vespanola?

Female: The battlegrounds of the Three-Year War.

Male: It has begun its course.

Female: I do not believe they are of grave threat to us.

Male: We should still be careful.

Female: Then I will take care of this.

*The male’s face shortly was revealed by the moonlight, he was looking at the direction of Lucius.

Female: Do you want me to finish him?

*Lucius’ heart skipped a bit. This is the feeling of impending doom.

Male: There is nothing in what we talked about that he would understand. I want to make him live long enough to remember this feeling of fear.

Female: Then I will take my leave. You should go before Cheryl senses your presence.

Male: *nods*.

*The two figures disappeared as the shadows of the clouds hovering the skies covered the moon.

Lucius: *breathes in deeply*

Lucrezia: Hey!

Lucius: Whoa!

*Lucius sees Lucrezia and Lorch from behind.

Lucrezia: Looks like you’ve seen a ghost.

Lucius: Then this is a ghost I’m glad to see.

Lucrezia: We’ve been looking for you. I’m glad everyone is safe. Lorch says that this is the El Ruina Memoria, next to this is grassy hills of El Tejado Verde. From there, we can by Auch then El Lago de Tres Hermanas. Not that bad eh?

Lucius: Yeah. *Lucius opted not to talk about what had happened a while ago.*

Lorch: We must be careful though. Where we are heading to is the hideout of bandits. There are a lot of them roaming these areas.

Lucius: I understand.

Lorch: Torsche’s mansion is not far from there. We must hurry then.

To get or not to get...

Ms. Angie McKenzie needs help...

WTF! 8910 G points!

And that's not yet complete. I have to buy from the Market the other 25. (Since buying by 5s or in 50s would be more expensive)

But still! So expensive. And I have to look for more scrolls from somewhere...

Oh well..

So to get Angie or not to get?

TO Get!

Angie! Welcome to the Silva Family. I hope your 2 Constructions stances woule be helpful to me and my faction.

I see my Viki's PLer here. *grins*

For the Love of Viki Part 2

So I said that I was as prepared as possible with regards to Viki's quest...

I was wrong.

Really! Collecting all those quest items was a pain in the arse.

Recall these moments:

1. Collect 100 of each of the more uncommon monsters:

2. And don't forget this one:

That Mamund Part of the quest was really the most irritating. No matter how prepared you can be, Viki's quest will really take a lot out of you.

While I was looking for the Violent Ghecos in Pradera, I happened to encounter a few Mamund hunters also. We formed a squad dedicated to getting Mamund. A couple of my factionmates were also in that part of the quest soI invited them to join. Thus, "The Hunt for Mamund Squad" was formed.

The squad wasn't just something so that we can locate the Mini-boss easier. It also kept us busy with squad chat.

Ah Yes. For the Love of Viki.

But while doing Viki's quest. I came upon another side-quest which was available at the very start of the game: The Hengestone Quest!

This was while looking for the Red-Disc-like-flying-thinggy in Tetra Hill.

And this one was while I was looking for the Violent Ghecos in Pradera.

I have 15 now and I think most maps in Granado Espada has these hengestones. You can get prizes depending on how many you were able to locate. The NPC whom you can talk to can be found inside the Office of Pioneering Support.

Anyway, at the end of the day, around 12:30am I was able to get Viki.

I can't say that I was one of the lucky ones who got Mamund. I got it on my 20+ try. I've heard of people getting Mamund on their 70th and more. My squadmates were also able to get Mamund. I think there was only one who didn't. He went to sleep early. LOL.

Now all I have to do is to get Viki, his Castis Stance then train him to Vet.

I know, not that easy. But like I said in my previous post: One at a time.

---------------

For those who wish to learn on the hengestone locations. Check out this link from the seaGE forums.

Hedgestones Revealed by ahbOi

I always told myself to complete the hengestones when I make my new characters. But I always forget. Anyway, maybe if they give me better rewards I might try.

Chapter 9: Clearing the Air

[Still at Theuringen Lake]

Lucius: Lorch, if you have anything to do with the law that would endager Milady, I will make sure that you do not see that light of day.

Lorch: Are you serious now? Not to worry. Nothing too serious. But forgive me for getting you into this.

Lucius: *smiling*. If you say so then. On three?

Lorch: *nodding* One…

Lucrezia: Okay what’s happening?

Lucius: Two…

Lorch and Lucius: Three! *Both of them installs Critical Poison trap*

Lucius: Milady cover your face.

[A green smoke covers the entire field as Lucius takes Lucrezia. The three now runs away from the area. Then the smoke clears…]

Lucrezia: Okay, that was fun.

Lorch: Short-lived.

Auch Rifleman: Forgive us Lord Lorch Furholden. But your father insists that you return.

Lucius: Your father?

*Lorch remains quiet.*

[After a few minutes, the three find themselves walking along the Porto Bello Deserted Quay, away from the City of Auch.]

Lucrezia: So why do we have to be here again?

Lucius: They believe that we might conspire to save Lord Furholden here.

Lucrezia: Care to tell us your story?

Lorch: Forgive me. It’s a simple story of a young boy trying to prove his father and his self that the young boy can live on his own and follow his dream and passion.

Lucrezia: I guess it’s the same for most of us.

Lorch: My father is a powerful person to put it simply. And as one of the heirs to the Furholden name, I had to be a Furholden.

Lucrezia: You were on the same ship with us before when we arrived on the Jaclina.

Lorch: I was making my second escape. It was like this before. I was caught by soldiers from Reboldeoux. I guess they learned my presence this time since I used the Leonardo Express.

Lucrezia: You didn’t have to if we didn’t need to be in Auch.

Lorch: I had to be there also. I received a note when I arrived in Coimbra. It seems that it came from Catherine if what you were saying that you saw her in Coimbra back then.

Lucius: What did the note contain that you had to risk being found out by using Leonardo Express?

Lorch: I wanted to manufacture the best shotgun. The strongest and the most powerful. It is my only tangible measure that I am able to prove my father otherwise. Dr. Torsche, Catherine’s master, appears to know how I could get it.

Lorch: While I was in Coimbra, I researched around learning more about Dr. Torsche. He seems to be an unpopular figure for Vespanola, but his credibility and knowledge on Otite and development of new types of weapons made me interested that maybe, he is the one who may know how I could create the best shotgun.

Lucius: This Otite. It’s a very mysterious mineral.

Lorch: In Granado Espada, there are minerals which are native only to this land. No where else. The Otite is among them. And I must say, Dr. Torsche’s research is the best in the field.

Lucius: I’m now wondering how the Reichters came to meet him.

Lucrezia: Nevermind that. It’s time to get out of here.

Lorch: How? The Auch Infantry are more than the number of people that only three people can handle.

Lucrezia: Who said something about fighting?

Lucius: Lucrezia, you do understand Space Magic requires you to have a deep connection with the land you wish to get to. We’ve been in Auch for only a few minutes.

Lucrezia: No use fretting about it. You have any ideas?

*Lucius remains silent*

Lucrezia: Okay then. Here goes. *Lucrezia opens the gate to the other dimension.*

Lorch: Is this safe?

Lucius: Usually…

Lorch: Usually?!
