2007.11.28

Okay, the Chapter 5 was deliberately made short. I was planning to make a long Chapter 6 tentative title, "Of Cursed Memories". As you can see, the Silva Family is still in the process of introducing their characters, their family background and their main purpose in Granado Espada. But slowly, the plot will unfold beginning with their quest to locate Cyrus, their name brother who is currently missing in Al Quelt Moreza.

We'll be introducing a new main character for the CORAT series soon and he'll bring his own problems into the mix.

Chapter 5: Direction

Emilia:
Thank you for everything Miss Lucrezia, Sir Lucius. You have been great help. I hope I could repay you one day.

Lucrezia: No need Emilia. Good luck with finding your father. But how are you getting back to Coimbra?

Emilia: I might get Leonardo Express. Or I can have someone from the Merchant Union to help me.

Lucrezia: That’s great then.

Emilia: Thank you. And good luck on your future adventures. By the way, if you’re looking for the Office of Pioneering Support, it’s just right from here go all the way there until you reach an open lot.

Lucrezia: Thanks. But we’ll meet with Cyrus first. I think he’s in the town square.

Emilia: Oh, that’s the other direction. Over there behind you.

Lucius: We’ll be going then. It’s nice meeting you Emilia.

Domingo: Wait, you. *looks at Lucrezia and Lucius* You are pioneers right? I need your help.

Lucius: I’m sorry sir, but we are in a hurry also with to find Cyrus…

Domingo: Cyrus Silva you say?

Lucrezia: Why yes. Do you know where he is?

Domingo: Yes, that’s the problem. Let me introduce myself first, I am Domingo of the Office of Pioneering Support. For the past three days, the monsters in Al Quelt Moreza have been increasingly aggressive. I do not know what’s causing this but it probably has something to do with Dilos Lantemn.

Lucrezia: Dilos Lantemn?

Domingo: He used to be the bishop of the old church there, but of unknown causes he had died and since then, monsters have fed upon the cynical energy left by Dilos Lantemn and his victims. Now, legend says that he continues to roam the ruins haunting every living being that stepped there.

Lucrezia: Why send pioneers there if that’s the case?

Domingo: I had to do something! The monsters are spilling out of Al Quelt Moreza and are causing havoc in the open fields. I sent pioneers there for monster eradication. My problem is, Cyrus Silva signed up but he is not yet a registered pioneer. Now he hasn’t come back yet. And once Sir Lyndon finds out, I’m not sure what to do.

Lucius: We understand. We will go now.

Domingo: That’s great! Please sign up here…

Lucrezia: No need. *wink*. We’re not registered also.

Chapter 4: The 2nd Family of Luxem

Lucrezia: Emilia, why did you want to do in Reboldeaux?

Emilia: My father was one of the first pioneers of Granado Espada. He is a researcher and has always wanted to become the first in everything. But then, he just disappeared one day. All I have left is his diary. But I had a hard time deciphering what it means. Until I remembered a scholar living in Cite de Reboldeaux. I figured he can help me. I’m not sure if he can, but every little new information I can get about him will help. Sometimes, I just think that I would never see him again, but these little things… they help. They give hope and…

Lucrezia: Like you said…it just helps.

*Emilia nodded.

Emilia: So why are you here?

Lucrezia:

Lucius: We were ordered by our King to represent Luxem as Pioneers for Vespanola.

Emilia: Yes Luxem, I’ve heard about it.

*Lucrezia’s eyes lighted.

Emilia: I am an extensive reader you know. I read that you have the most beautiful Alps in your region. But because of the Three-Year War…

Lucius: It had created an economically unstable environment for a small countries like ours. Especially when we rely too much on tourism and imports, it took a toil for our country.

Emilia: The same has happened to a lot of other countries. Are other families joining you?

Lucius: We were the last who were endorsed by the King. Other families who will be coming from Luxem after us will be people of Luxem who have acquired Vespanolan Citizenship. And there’s not a lot of them.

Lucrezia: Lucius… I wonder how the Reichters are.

Emilia: They were the first who came here?

Lucius: *nodding* Yes.

Lucrezia: Name brother, I dreamt of them while I was unconscious. I remembered playing in the garden of Lady Shai of the 1st Family. You were there also, you were talking to Stein’s name sister, Misia. Lord Stein was there, watching me and Lady Irmgard play at the fields.

Lucius: Yes, that was a fond memory. That was 10 years ago when we celebrated 10th Anniversary of Lady Shai’s death.

Emilia: Lady Shai of the 1st, the Reichters of the 4th, and you mentioned you were the 2nd family?

Lucius: In Luxem, the Royal Family was protected by the 5 Families of Luxem. The 1st Family lived at the Royal Castle, then the other 4 families guard the 4 castles of the four corners of Luxem. None of us are related to any way. Although there are marriages between families, these are very few.

Lucrezia: We were all very close. But brother, I’m worried. My dream did not end quite as fondly as it begun. The gardens of Lady Shai turned red, like the sky turns red when the sun sets at Luxem Bay. Then I was on a different place. I was no longer 10 years younger. You all disappeared then I could hear Lady Irmgard’s cries. I’m really worried about this Lucius.

Lucius: When we get to Reboldeaux, we will meet Cyrus. I will have him arrange a meeting with the Reichters just to ease your fears. I’m sure they are alright. Lady Irmgard and Lord Stein are masters of the magick and I’m sure Misia will take care of them.

Lucrezia: Yes. I hope so.

Emilia: We should tread lightly into this place. This is Al Quelt Moreza, the land of the cursed memories of the past. Monsters spawn this place dangerously. We should be careful. We will reach Ferrucio Junction in a few minutes, once we get there, we are safe.

Lucius: No doubt about that Emilia. These are a lot. Lucrezia, stay behind me.

Emilia: Careful now.

Emilia: That’s it for now then. Now witness a heritage in the making. The statue of Feruccio Espada…

2007.11.27

Those are the first 3 chapters (with one bonus chapter) from my fanfic Crest of Rose and Thorn. More screenies, less words, lighter story. That's what I'm aiming for now and I hope I'm reaching to the readers and GE fans out there.

I hope you watch this blog as I go to the next few chapters.

Why the Silva Family needed to go to Granado Espada? How are they related with the Reichter Family?

Those are just few of the questions which will be answered during the next few chapters of the fanfic.

Feel free to write your comments! Ciao! Ja ne!

Chapter 3: The Kindness of Strangers

Grace: Are you okay now?

Lucrezia: Huh..yes? Lucius? Where’s Lucius?

Lucius: I’m here Lucrezia. Lt. Bernelli here helped me get you back to consciousness.

Grace: I was just…passing by. You were lucky it was just sea-sickness. This is your first time traveling by sea?

Lucrezia: *shaking her head* no, but this is the longest time I was on the sea. Yes, maybe I’m still not used to it. Thank you Lt. Bernelli.

Grace: Please. Grace will do. Like you, I am just another pioneer. I make my living here selling guns and gunpowder materials. I just happen to find Port of Coimbra the best place to have my trading. *she paused for a while as if she wanted to say something else, but instead just went on*. I have to go now.

Lucius: Yes, thank you Lieutenant.

Lucrezia: *smiling* yes, he always does that. Thank you Grace.

Lucrezia: At least I’m sure now there are still people whom we can trust.

Lucius: Well…yes…

Lucrezia: Anything wrong? Don’t tell me you’re getting sea-sick too?

Lucius: No, Lucrezia. Nevermind.

Gracielo: Come on now Emilia, I’ll go with you.

Emilia: A bath will be a good first thing to do from now Gracielo.

Gracielo: Whatever Emilia, I know you need someone as strong as me. I’ll go with you to Cite de Reboldeaux, no worries. I won’t ask you anything in return. You can’t leave Coimbra alone. You know that. It’s dangerous out there. What will your father think if…

Emilia: That’s enough now.

Gracielo: Fine. But you’re not going alone.

Lucrezia: Then I’ll go with her.

Gracielo: What? She can’t come with me and she’s going with you… a perfect stranger.

Lucrezia: Well, at least I take a bath twice a day. Tee-hee.

Lucius: Milady… we don’t need this.

*Lucrezia stared at Lucius.

Gracielo: I don’t see you getting anything from this.

Lucrezia: I don’t need to get anything from this. A while ago a perfect stranger came to help me. I’ll be thinking this as pay back to karma. Besides, we’re going to Cite de Reboldeaux as well, she can tag along with us.

Gracielo: No way!

Emilia: Thank you Miss…

Lucrezia: Just call me Lucrezia. This here is Lucius.

Emilia: Thank you Miss Lucrezia, Sir Lucius. I'm in your debt.

Chapter 2: The New World

Ticket Seller: Be careful Pioneers, Granado Espada may be relatively safe as the Vespanolan Government have done successfully in keeping this place in control, we cannot assure you that you of how people will act around you.

Lucius: Noted.

Ticket Seller: Here you go. *hands over a piece of paper*. That’s basically how you get to Cite de Reboldeaux. From there, just ask the City Guide and you’ll easily find your way to the Office of Pioneering Service.

Lucius: Thank you… Now milady we…

Lucrezia: Lucius! Look at this! This is the first time I have seen these kinds of textile.

Textile Merchant: Yes dear, and these here all came from Joaquin Bears! And you know how difficult it is to get all of those!

Lucrezia: Uh-huh uh-huh! *nodding*

Lucius: Milady, you shouldn’t be going around. We’re still not familiar with…

Lucrezia: And what did I say about greeting me as Milady?

Lucius: Forgive me Milady!

Lucrezia: Hmmm?!

Lucius: Lucrezia…but we have to get going now. We have to meet Cyrus at Reboldeaux. I believe it is a long way from here. We should hurry before night comes.

Lucrezia: Well since you asked nicely…

Lucius: Lucrezia.

Lucrezia: Yes, I felt it too. Someone has been following us since we left the ship. There!

Lucius: We lost him.

Lucrezia: I don’t feel good.

Lucius: Milady? Milady? Are you all right? Milady?

Chapter 1.5: For the Crest of Rose and Thorn

Stein: We came as pioneers for the Kingdom of Luxem

Misia: As the Reichters, the 4th Family of our Kingdom, we had to do it. It was to pay our debt to the Queen of Vespanola…

Stein: Our country is small, but beautiful.

Misia: But the people loved her.

Stein: However, being a small country, a war would greatly affect us. A war like the “Three-Year” war would destroy us, even indirectly.

Misia: Our king could not do anything any more. We were economically unstable. To save our country, we had to seek help.

Stein: And seek help our king did…to the people who started the war, the Vespanolans.

Misia: Until we have incurred our debt.

Stein: Then the Queen declared the “Reconquista Policy”

Misia: I remember it clearly my Lord Stein…

Stein: Yes my name sister… an emissary of the Queen of Vespanola came. With the “offer” that the Kingdom of Luxem sends its best soldiers to become Pioneers in the name of the Queen of Vespanola. With this, all the debts we have incurred will be cleared.

Misia: Which is why we came.

Stein: But we were mistaken when we thought that all of Luxem’s problems would end when we repaid Vespanola.

Misia: Now we face a crisis that would mean the end of Luxem.

Stein: They want IT…

Misia: In exchange of milady Irmgard.

Stein: Now we must decide, Misia.

Misia: Lord Stein…

Stein: We are but three people who loves Luxem dearly. Our lives are a mere speck in this world. Luxem is a mere speck in this world. But not to its people, to our people. To our people, Luxem is everything. And everything we must do…for the Crest of Rose and Thorn.

Misia: Yes, for the Crest of Rose and Thorn.

Chapter 1: What Lies Ahead?

Ricardo: Reminds Nunez of the Belaeres Battle…

Lucius: Eh?

Ricardo: Forgive me from reminiscing, but you are in the New World right now and I’m sure you are quite familiar with her history.

Lucius: Sorry.

Ricardo: For?

Lucius: For not caring. I just want to get out of here once everything is over.

Ricardo:

Sailor: Land Ahoy!

Ricardo: Almost there… I’m not sure what you want here. This is Granado Espada, my son. You almost never leave once you’re here. Either way…I’m just here and the Jaclina and we’re more than happy to return you back home.

Lucius:
Thank you…

Lucrezia: So… we’re here huh?

Lucius: Yes milady.

Lucrezia: Once we set foot, I’m no longer royalty. Please remember that, name brother.

Lucius: I understand. But that does not stop me from my sworn duty to protect you.

Lucrezia: Thank you. Now it’s just a matter of telling what lies ahead.

Lorch: What lies ahead huh?
